Questions
and Answers:
MAYHEM...
Is it Scary?
No!
Whodunit's shows are COMEDIES! So don't expect a deep
dark mystery. In fact for those people who just want
to kick back, laugh and be entertained...you don't
even have to try and solve the crime.
SUSPECTS... Do I have to play a character?
Everyone
will get a role. But it is up to you how much you
become your character. If you are on the shy side,
you can just sit back and be a fly on the wall, as
you try to figure out Whodunit.
ACCOMPLICES...
Is everyone on the ship involved in the mystery?
No. Only our very special group. However the staff
does get involved! From the Cruise Director to the
Captain, they love to play when the Whodunit gang
boards the ship.
ALIBI...
Are we doing the murder mystery the WHOLE cruise?
No. The Whodunit team has worked very closely with
The Cruise Line to schedule the events so they don't
conflict with the other entertainment offered aboard
the ship. And there is plenty of free time for you
to enjoy the cruising experience. When you board you
will receive an itinerary of all the murderous events.
Most of the events take place over dinner and at breakfast,
as you all dine together. Then, there are one or two
specially planned events every day. Like the first
cocktail party on the first night.
RED
HERRINGS... Can I sit at Main Dining and still
be involved?
Unfortunately, the itinerary and events are set around
the 2nd seating schedule. This allows us to have events
during the 6:30 - 7:30 hour when everyone is aboard.
Obviously this would conflict with the main seating
dinner hour. And, since so many of the clues are also
given out during the dinner hour ... we would hate
for you to miss them.
THE
GETAWAY... Can children come?
It's up to you. They will have a role in our little
game just like everyone else. However, there IS a
lot of adult humor during the course of the show.
After all, what is a mystery without a secret lover...or
two? Also keep in mind that we are all seated at 2nd
seating and this might be too late for the children.
CORPSE...
Could I be the one murdered?
No...Then you couldn't enjoy the show!
DISGUISE... What is the attire for the cruise?
It is normal cruise wear, casual.
BOUNTY... What is the prize?
No, you are not winning a cruise, as much as we would
like. However, if you are a super sleuth you will
win two tickets to our dinner show along with a beautiful
magnifying glass and letter opener set, and a bunch
of Cruise stuff!
New
date here
Before
you know it, August will be here and it will be time
for fun. Here are some suggestions that I hope will
be helpful.
1.
Make sure you have a passport.
2. If you are bringing minor children out of the country,
and you are not the parent or legal guardian, you
must have a notarized letter stating that you have
permission to act as guardian and take them with you.
(I am a notary and can assist you with this if necessary.)
Young
Children
There
has been some confusion about bringing young children.
Any age child may cruise. You may have read about
restrictions concerning young children, but that only
applies to the Adventure Ocean Youth Program. To participate
in that, a child must be 3 years old and potty trained.
This program provides supervised and age-segmented
daily activities. For example: adventure science and
adventure art to sports tournaments and talent shows.
I'm sure you can understand that they cannot be changing
diapers. If you are bringing very young children there
are babysitters available for an $8/hour fee. So,
if you want to go to Dinner alone or the Disco, you
can make these arrangements. Since we are traveling
with a large group, where many know one another, you
might see if any of the teen-agers would like to earn
some spending money, as we have several boys and girls
ages 11-18.
Shopping
You
may wonder about buying items, either on board or
at port. You will be pleasantly surprised at the great
buys shipboard. Watch for the sales and specials in
your "Daily Compass". Some days the jewelry
store will have special discounts, the next day perfume,
next day the clothing store ... (I bought 2 t-shirts
for $18., some with the Royal Caribbean logo, some
just fun stuff). When you shop in each port of call
you will be able to use your ATM, CC, Travelers Checks
or even American Dollars! However, you will get a
better exchange rate with CC or ATM.
Special
Occasions
If
you are celebrating an anniversary, or have a special
occasion to celebrate, let me know now, as I can make
some arrangement to help you celebrate it. We can
also offer some Romance Packages if you are renewing
your vows. Please make me aware of your desires and
I will try to make them happen!
What
to Pack?
Lite!
There is a laundry service on board. There is a charge
for the service. Remember that the average temperature
in the Caribbean is 77 degrees (F), however on the water
it can get breezy in the evening. Casual summer shorts,
deck clothes, and 2 formal outfits, underwear and
swimsuit. Perhaps a light jacket or sweater. Sandals,
walking shoes, sunscreen. Be sure to hand-carry all
valuables, and you will have a safe in your cabin.
Also, hand-carry all medications and travel documents.
Computer
Addicts...
Awesome
computer center is on board for your pleasure, if
you just can't leave the World Wide Web alone, while
your having the time of your life. You can check your
e-mail, surf the web or check your stock portfolio,
or even send digital post-cards home.
Formal
Nights
There
will be two (2) formal nights. Come on guys; dress
up for your lady. She will love it. To some this means
a suit or business dress, to others it means a tuxedo
and gown. All are acceptable. If you just don't want
any part of it you may dine in any of the other restaurants
or cafes, as there is truly something for everyone.
(If the guys wish to rent a tuxedo, they are available
on-board for a reasonable fee, delivered directly
to your state-room)
Airfare.
Many
have already arranged their air. Please do not wait
until the last minute. If you are not at the dock
when the ship sails it will leave without you.
Please
advise me of your arrangements, and times, as I will
be able to check for delays, cancellations or schedule
changes.
I
suggest arriving the day before. You can stay at a
hotel near the dock or airport. Some are even going
a few days early to visit some tourist sites in Los
Angeles. I can help arrange any additional days. If
you do it on your own, please advise me how I can
be in touch with you.
We do not want to leave anyone behind.
Health
Issues
I have been asked if any special shots are needed.
My answer is, "Check with your doctor and make
sure you are current on any shots you may need."
Your doctor will know your history. For example, if
you have not had a tetanus shot for 10 years, you
will need a booster. Please check with your health
care professional.
As
a rule, no special inoculations are needed to visit
Mexico.
My advice is to be careful what you eat in port. Eat
only at American approved restaurants and hotels.
Do not eat at roadside stands or drink uncapped items.
A Cruise would be less fun with Montezuma's Revenge.
Can
one person in a cabin be involved with the mystery
and not the other?
Though this is possible, they WILL NOT BE SEATED TOGETHER
FOR MEALS! Once a passenger has signed up for the
mystery then they will be assigned their seats with
the murder mystery group. NO ONE MAY BE SEATED WITH
THE GROUP WHO HAS NOT PAID TO JOIN. (They would be
enjoying the fun for free!) Some passengers who have
signed up for the mystery still request to be seated
separately so they can join the rest of their party.
We do not suggest this, as a large portion of the
clues and fun takes place during the meals. However,
as long as they understand this, it is their option.
PLEASE LET YOUR CLIENTS KNOW ABOUT THE WILD FUN THAT
TAKES PLACE DURING THE DINNERS SO THEY DO NOT EXPECT
A QUIET ROMANTIC DINING EXPERIENCE. THE CHARACTERS
ARE ROAMING FROM TABLE TO TABLE... SO THINK BIG LAUGHS!!!!!
How do you assign the characters?
Since every guest will get a role to play, we do this
randomly. However, if you know anything about your
client (age, special interests, outgoing or shy, etc)
we will definitely take this into consideration when
assigning the roles. In fact, it is a great help to
us and makes it that much more fun for your clients!
Room
Service
Complimentary

Shore
Excursions
About
3-4 weeks prior to sailing you'll receive a complete
description of various shore excursions that are available,
along with your cruise documents. You may want to
book after you board the ship, when you see what others
in your group choose to do.
What
Credit Cards Are Accepted?
Royal
Caribbean Cruise Lines happily accepts Visa, Master
Card, American Express, Carte Blanche, Optima, Diners
Club International, and Discover. If you pay with
check, make it payable to Vagabond Travel and we will
send an agency check to guarantee to RCCL. If you
would like to pay with cash, please call the office
and we will apply payment for you.
Pre-Purchasing
a Beverage Card
At
the time you check-in to board the cruise ship you
may pay an additional $33.00 per-person beverage charge
for unlimited soft drinks. This is at the same time
you will be issued your charge card for on-board activities.
A card for alcoholic beverages is also available.
TIPS
FOR SAFER AIR TRAVEL
We
recommend the following safety tips for air travelers.
*
Before going to the airport, call the airline to check
the status of your flight's departure.
* For domestic flights, arrive at least three hours
ahead of time.
* Bring two forms of photo identification with you.
* Contact your airline for availability of curbside
check-in.
* Some airlines may have new requirements, such as
exchanging an E-ticket for a boarding pass or a paper
ticket at the airline ticket counter rather than the
gate.
* Call your particular airline to see if they have
any new security measures.
* Do not carry any sharp objects, such as pocketknives,
scissors or nail clippers on your person or in your
carry-on luggage.
* Airports will be operating under heightened security.
* Be ready to comply with additional requests from
police, airport security and airline personnel.
* Be prepared for more rigorous security checks.
* Expect more frequent inspection of carry -on luggage.
* Never leave luggage unattended, and never carry
anything on board an airplane for someone you so not
know.
